PSW Photoshop Plugin Does Not Load Lightroom 4 Adjustments

If I load a photo in which I have made adjustments in Lightroom 4, the PWS plugin to Photoshop does not see the changes. This is not true if I use the standalone PWS program. It recognizes the Lightroom 4 changes. What should I do to get PWS to recognize LR 4 changes in Photoshop?

Nothing, it was not designed

Nothing, it was not designed for it. PostworkShop works as an external editor for Lightroom, it has nothing to do with Photoshop.

See this blog post about the workflow:

I have no option in LR4

First, I have no option to "Edit In" PWS in LR4 for the Mac. Second, my original question was not to export directly from LR4 to PWS, but to export from LR4 to Photoshop and then use the PWS plugin as a filter. When I do this, the LR4 adjustment are gone.  Thanks so much for your help.

To use PWS as an external

To use PWS as an external editor in Lightroom you have to set it up in Lightroom as an external editor. Edit menu / Preferences menu / External Editor tab / Additional External Editor section / Application: Choose button

When you use an external editor the LR adjustments can be exported and will be visible in PostworkShop (as displayed in the blog post).

If you go through Photoshop, then it is all internal Adobe affairs, I can imagine that LR sends the image unaltered and registers the adjustments separately that Photoshop applies internally, but does not provide to the plugins.
